This was a very eventful day. As per our plan we reached the
beach at 8 am for the boat ride. Babubhai, our boatman was to take us to the
mid sea for showing Dolphins, otherwise as per Babubhai’s word “Paisa mat dena
agar Dolphin nahi dikhaya toh” J
(Don’t give me money if I am not able to show you Dolphins).
Anu had already bought some cake the day before so that we
could take it with us for the visit.
I put some bronzer on my face and tried to keep my lips
neutral.
Now some caution: during
pregnancy it's not advisable to go for a boat ride. Reason one, if you already
feeling nausea, it would make the matter much worse. The ride was for an hour
and you may feel the urge to go to the toilet, which is not uncommon during pregnancy
but you won’t have any option. Thirdly you need to keep yourself hydrated even though
you know there is no convenience of washroom at hand.
But I ignored the
caution as I was too excited to see the dolphins.
Palolem beach has too
many islands nearby and our boat was going past them. Babu bhai was giving some
running commentary about those islands and beaches. These are some beautiful
pics taken by Anu.
He showed us a beach and
informed that during the peak tourist season the Goras came there and partied naked.
I was laughing at the thought of the cultural shock that the localities at
Palolem must have got when they had witnessed such an incident for the first
time! May be it had become a news which had been discussed through years, until
they had got used to the idea.
Personally I feel that
the local people of Palolem are the very good and friendly people, who really
don’t bother about whatever on the earth you wear.
After travelling for almost 15 to 20 min what we saw was
beyond my imagination. I saw so many dolphins freely moving in the sea. It was
just a spell binding moment and Anu was taking pics of the dolphins one by one.
You can see some of his pics here.
But while Babubhai was trying to show us dolphins he had to keep
the motor running without moving the boat much and the smell of diesel was made
me feel uneasy. But I kept silent about it as I knew that Anu would insist on returning
back from that point as soon he would know the fact.
I took some cake and tried to feel better.
After spending almost 40-45 min in the mid sea we returned
back to Palolem beach.
We also spotted a bird during coming back…
Anu took some more pics…
And that’s our Palolem beach…
After stepping onto the beach I told him that I was not
feeling well and that the boat ride was not recommended for pregnant women. He
got completely furious at me. I just assured him that I needed an hour’s rest and I would be fine.
After that I slept like a baby and not much of Anu’s
reproaches reached my ears.
